Domenica 12 e mercoledì 15 Febbraio trentotto produttori presentano le nuove annate di Vernaccia di San Gimignano docg nelle sale del Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea De Grada, la 2016 per la tipologia Annata, la 2015 e annate precedenti per la Riserva.
Ottantatre le etichette di Vernaccia di San Gimignano in anteprima ai banchi di assaggio dei produttori a disposizione dei visitatori che vogliono degustare i nuovi vini: l’Anteprima nella giornata di domenica 12 febbraio è aperta anche al pubblico con ingresso gratuito, mentre mercoledì 15 è riservata alla stampa.La vendemmia del cinquantenario della doc, che per prima la Vernaccia di San Gimignano ottenne nel 1966, è stata all’altezza dell’occasione, le uve al momento della raccolta presentavano un ottimo stato sanitario, con gradazioni alcoliche alte e un corredo acido molto interessante, da cui sono nati vini con una buona struttura e potenzialmente vocati all’invecchiamento, anche se al momento non si presentano ancora perfettamente finiti necessitando di un ulteriore periodo di affinamento. La quantità di Vernaccia di San Gimignano prodotta nel 2016 è di 42.591 ettolitri da 719 ettari rivendicati nell’anno, leggermente superiore al 2015, quando furono prodotti 41.056 ettolitri.
Per quanto riguarda la Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva 2015, i vini sono il frutto di un’ annata bella e regolare, caratterizzati da ottimi profumi al giusto livello di evoluzione e da acidità equilibrate. Sono vini godibili già adesso, ma con una potenzialità evolutiva che li renderà piacevoli ancora per diversi anni.Nel 2016 sono state prodotte 5.343.942 bottiglie di Vernaccia di San Gimignano delle annate 2015 e precedenti, in linea con la media di produzione degli ultimi anni, pari ad un giro di affari di 16 milioni di euro, circa il 40% del valore totale del settore vinicolo a San Gimignano, che è di 39.700.000 euro.Nel 2016 è restata pressoché invariata anche la percentuale di Vernaccia di San Gimignano destinata all’export, pari al 52%, di cui il 27,5% al mercato europeo, il 18,9% al mercato americano, il 4,7% a quello asiatico.In Europa il maggiore mercato si conferma quello tedesco che da solo assorbe il 9,8% dell’esportazione, seguito da Svizzera (3,8%), Inghilterra (2,7%) e Olanda (2,6%). Ma il migliore mercato in assoluta resta quello statunitense, a cui è destinato il 16,3% della produzione, pari a 898.372 bottiglie.
