È con l’importante vetrina del Vinitaly, che si aprono le celebrazioni del Cinquantennale del Verdicchio di Matelica, il primo bianco delle Marche ad aver ottenuto il riconoscimento di vino a D.O.C. nel 1967. L’amministrazione comunale sarà accanto ai produttori per sottolineare l’eccellenza di questo vino e per lanciare il progetto di valorizzazione legato all’anniversario, dando il via ufficiale alle iniziative che avranno in estate il loro clou.
“Il Cinquantennale – sottolinea Roberto Potentini, assessore comunale all’agricoltura – è la certificazione più tangibile dell’alta qualità di questo progetto vitivinicolo. È la storia stessa che ha compiuto una selezione e premiato il Verdicchio di Matelica. Per questo, celebrare i 50 anni della doc vuole dire esaltare un passato che è garanzia di un futuro importante. Il Verdicchio di Matelica – aggiunge Potentini – è un patrimonio comune del territorio e un fondamentale motore di sviluppo per una comunità provata dalla crisi economica e dal terremoto”.
E il Verdicchio di Matelica sarà un festeggiato d’onore al Vinitaly. Nell’ambito di iniziative organizzate dall’Istituto Marchigiano di tutela vini, in programma martedì 11 aprile una degustazione con Ian D’Agata, senior editor Vinous (ore 9.30, pad. 7 – stand C 6/7/8/9 ), mentre mercoledì 12 il sindaco di Matelica, Alessandro Delpriori, presenterà il Cinquantennale nell’ambito di un incontro moderato dal giornalista ed esperto di cultura enogastronomica Carlo Cambi (ore 10.30, terrazza Regione Marche, pad. 7 – stand C 6/7/8/9).
Le iniziative del Cinquantennale si concentreranno soprattutto in estate, quando Matelica si accenderà di eventi facendo della cittadina marchigiana una destinazione ideale sia per gli esperti del vino che per gli appassionati del gusto. Tra gli appuntamenti in programma, un convegno di taglio socio-economico in luglio e l’inaugurazione del primo monumento dedicato al Verdicchio di Matelica. Saranno tante le occasioni per apprezzare questo bianco straordinario, dalle degustazioni alle serate a tema, con i ristoranti del territorio in festa che dedicheranno menù speciali all’anniversario; il culmine delle celebrazioni cadrà il 21 luglio (data della pubblicazione in Gazzetta ufficiale dell’assegnazione della doc nel 1967), con già in programma lo show cooking in piazza a cura di Diego Bongiovanni, chef de “La Prova del Cuoco”.
Con 300 ettari di superficie vitata nel cuore dell’Alta Vallesina, il Verdicchio di Matelica spicca nella produzione marchigiana per caratteristiche uniche: i vitigni sono coltivati nella sola grande valle della regione disposta in direzione nord – sud e dunque chiusa al mare, una peculiarità che si traduce in tipicità produttive e sensoriali.
Con una produzione da 2 milioni e 400mila bottiglie (dati 2015), il Verdicchio di Matelica è ambasciatore di questi territori nel mondo, con almeno metà della produzione che varca i confini nazionali. Particolarmente interessante l’andamento della punta di diamante, il Verdicchio di Matelica Riserva DOCG, che dal 2011 al 2015 ha più che triplicato la produzione, segno che la fascia top sta incontrando un apprezzamento crescente e che il Verdicchio di Matelica si sta ulteriormente qualificando nell’eccellenza.
