In una affascinante location, il Castello di Grinzane Cavour in Langa, il 26 febbraio l’AREV ha organizzato un convegno internazionale suddiviso di in due parti: “La viticoltura europea di fronte al mercato internazionale” e “Quale vino berremo domani?” Nella prima parte del convegno, il tema è stato il futuro del vino europeo di fronte alla globalizzazione e al libero scambio. Andrea Olivero, Vice Ministro delle Politiche Agricole, propone “di valorizzare il prodotto connettendolo sempre di più al territorio. Il calo dei consumi interni in Europa ci porta verso l’esportazione verso parsi terzi. Con aziende piccole, di cui l’80% produce meno di 10.000 bottiglie, senza denominazioni di origine perdiamo ogni tipo di forza”. Per Oscar Marinetti “il futuro del vino europeo è biologico. Non sarà la politica che risolve i problemi, ma con il marketing della sincerità, avere il coraggio di riuscire a far capire al consumatore finale cos’è davvero il made in Italy”. Ersilia Moliterno, Direzione Generale Agricoltura e Sviluppo rurale delle Commissione Europea, ha evidenziato che “oggi è importante proteggere le indicazioni geografiche in quei Paesi dove ancora è difficile farlo: per esempio, in America”.
Nella seconda parte del convegno, il dibattito è proseguito su “Quale vino berremo domani?” a causa del mutamento climatico e se le denominazioni territoriali sono un volano importante di sviluppo. Per Donato Lanati, enologo e fondatore di Enosis, “viviamo un momento di grande variabilità meteorologica, per cui, bisogna cambiare la viticoltura con impianti di viti più resistenti al caldo e all’assenza dell’acqua e che rispondano meglio all’aumento delle malattie come ad esempio la peronospora. Questo però, non vuol dire ricorso a viti OGM: sarebbe una scorciatoia. Ci sono strade diverse da percorre, come selezioni clonali di varietà per territori specifici o utilizzo, ad esempio, di reti protettive contro i raggi ultravioletti”. Norbert Weber, presidente della Federazione della Viticoltura Tedesca, si affida “alla scienza per risolvere i problemi futuri e trovare soluzioni conformi all’ambiente”.
L’importanza del territorio è stata portata all’attenzione dei presenti da Pascal Férrat, Presidente del Sindacato generale dei Viticoltori della Champagne, “la denominazione Champagne e il territorio sono un connubio di fondamentale di successo. In dieci anni il consumo interno è passato dal 70% a meno del 50% mentre, nello tesso tempo, il valore è cresciuto in maniera esponenziale.” A supporto dell’importanza del territorio si è espresso anche Paolo Seracco, viticoltore in Castiglion Tinella “anche se il clima crea preoccupazioni, il vino di domani, credo, dovrà essere quello del territorio con lo scopo di esaltare i caratteri del vino, come nel mio caso fare un vino Moscato di carattere”.
