Il Consorzio del Morellino di Scansano riferisce i dati della vendemmia 2017 per la denominazione toscana DOCG. Si chiude con un -20/25% in media la vendemmia 2017, i dati non sono quelli definitivi (con precisione verranno divulgati a dicembre, ndr.), ma sono sicuramente il frutto di un’attenta analisi empirica del Consorzio Morellino di Scansano.
“Quest’anno le uve si sono rivelate sane e dunque idonee a produrre vini di qualità, ma in quantità minore rispetto al trend degli ultimi anni” spiega il presidente, Rossano Teglielli. “La vendemmia del Morellino di Scansano 2017 ricalca il trend toscano, nonostante vi sia una certa variabilità determinata dalle diverse aree di produzione della Denominazione. La situazione si rivela ad oggi a “macchia di leopardo”: alcune realtà non hanno avuto una grossa riduzione della raccolta, altre hanno subìto in modo importante i fenomeni ambientali e climatici” continua Teglielli. In linea generale sono state 3 le concause che hanno determinato il calo della raccolta di quest’anno: la siccità, che ha portato grosse complicazioni un po’ dovunque nel territorio nazionale; la gelata primaverile, che ha avuto un’incidenza del 5-10%; la presenza massiccia degli ungulati nel territorio maremmano, che hanno attaccato le piante e i grappoli spinti dalla sete e dalla fame. Questi animali stanno aumentando in maniera esponenziale e fuori controllo negli ultimi anni in Toscana e purtroppo costituiscono, oltre che un problema sociale (incidenti causati dall’invasione delle carreggiate o presenza nei paesi), anche un problema agricolo.
“Non c’è dubbio però che il problema maggiore sia stato la siccità, a cui molte aziende hanno fatto fronte con l’irrigazione di soccorso” racconta Alessio Durazzi, direttore del Consorzio. “Chi è intervenuto in anticipo o tempestivamente, non ha subìto danni eccessivi. Inoltre, il suolo ha rivestito un ruolo importante sull’esito della vendemmia. Chi possiede vigneti in terreni che trattengo bene l’umidità, ha certamente sofferto meno il problema della siccità”. “Con la consapevolezza della stagione appena trascorsa, il Consorzio ha da poco firmato una convenzione con Banca TEMA per supportare i soci nella richiesta di crediti a tassi agevolati che permettano loro di far fronte ai cambiamenti climatici o ad eventuali necessità future di miglioramento tecnologico. Perché tutto questo sia possibile, però, è importante che la politica snellisca le formalità autorizzative per la realizzazione di pozzi ed invasi così da permettere alle aziende di attivarsi, anche individualmente, per fronteggiare l’emergenza idrica che sta diventando, purtroppo, una costante con cui confrontarsi” conclude Durazzi.
