Vinarius, l’associazione delle enoteche italiane, ha reso noto quest’oggi che l’ambito “6° Premio al Territorio” è stato assegnato ad uno dei terroir più famosi al mondo per la produzione di vini bianchi: il Collio. Il premio, conferito oggi 24 Febbraio, è stato assegnato all’unanimità a questo angolo di Friuli Venezia Giulia “Per essere stato protagonista e guida del rinascimento del vino italiano, per aver trasmesso ai propri vini lo spirito ed il carattere che ha permesso di vivere e prosperare in un luogo duro e difficile, per la capacità e la decisione necessari per riconquistarne il primato”.
Questa la motivazione del premio, come ha dichiarato il presidente Vinarius, Andrea Terraneo. “È un riconoscimento che ci riempie di orgoglio – ha affermato il presidente del Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio Robert Princic – perché premia la vocazione del nostro territorio. Nel Collio, infatti, ad una predisposizione naturale dell’area, si aggiunge il fondamentale apporto dei nostri produttori che, con la loro cura meticolosa dei vigneti, tutelano l’ambiente ed impreziosiscono i nostri paesaggi”. I 1400 ettari che costituiscono questa denominazione si trovano in provincia di Gorizia, al confine con la Slovenia, e devono la loro fama a vini bianchi capaci di migliorare negli anni: gli autoctoni Friulano, Ribolla Gialla e Malvasia coltivati insieme agli internazionali Sauvignon, Chardonnay e Pinot Grigio, che qui cresce da più di 170 anni, senza dimenticare l’uvaggio Collio Bianco.
Le ripide colline che lo caratterizzano, l’alto drenaggio e l’elevato contenuto in minerali del terreno, costituito da “Ponca”, un’alternanza di strati di marne e arenarie, conferiscono ai vini un notevole equilibrio tra sapidità, acidità e grado alcolico, capace di farli resistere e migliorare nel tempo. L’assegnazione di oggi è però solo il primo passo del “Premio al Territorio”: seguirà infatti una visita studio dei soci Vinarius per conoscere meglio il Collio e, in autunno, la promozione nelle enoteche associate, con una settimana di degustazioni della denominazione nei locali di tutta Italia.
