Con la definizione tecnica di “menzioni geografiche aggiuntive” i Cru del Soave fanno il loro ingresso ufficiale all’interno del disciplinare di produzione.
L’iter di modifica richiederà circa un anno ed è stato deliberato nel corso dell’ultimo consiglio di amministrazione del Consorzio a fine aprile. L’inserimento dei Cru del Soave all’interno del disciplinare di produzione rappresenta una leva strategica fondamentale per la denominazione sul fronte dei mercati esteri: in questo modo il Soave entra a pieno titolo nel “ristretto club” delle zone di produzione a più antica vocazione vitivinicola a livello mondiale.
I Cru del Soave, le così dette “Vigne storiche”, corrispondono a 64 areali di produzione, ognuno dei quali, in forza della storicità che li contraddistingue, presenta specifiche caratteristiche produttive, come l’esposizione, la giacitura, l’origine geologica. Tali areali sono oggi ben definiti grazie al percorso di zonazione viticola che ha impegnato il Consorzio di tutela dal 1998 al 2006. «L’inserimento dei Cru del Soave all’interno del disciplinare di produzione è una decisione importante – sottolinea Arturo Stocchetti, presidente del Consorzio del Soave – che giunge a poca distanza da quella di ricondurre vinificazione e imbottigliamento all’interno della zona di produzione. Dopo 20 anni di ricerca finalmente queste “vigne storiche” ottengono il loro riconoscimento all’interno del disciplinare certificando di fatto la maturità di un sistema in grado di competere per qualità, storia, terroir, vocazionalità, con le zone vitivinicole più blasonate del mondo».
Proprio per questo il tema dei cru è stato scelto per aprire ufficialmente Soave Preview, l’Anteprima del Soave, in programma al Palazzo del Capitano dal 18 al 21 maggio, e dedicata alle differenti interpretazioni del Soave targato 2016, dove sono attesi oltre 100 giornalisti, wine educator e influencer provenienti da Giappone, Germania, Polonia, Inghilterra, Nord Europa, Stati Uniti, oltre naturalmente alla stampa italiana di settore. Del resto sono i mercati esteri da sempre i più attenti e sensibili in materia di cru e di vigne storiche, e non a caso proprio il Giappone e l’Inghilterra saranno le piazze di destinazione di due azioni promozionali di importanza strategica, dedicate ai Cru del Soave.
A giugno infatti, forte dell’apporto di Sarah Abbot, master of Wine, partirà la campagna “Summer of Soave” che coinvolgerà stampa di settore e trade in esclusivi tasting guidati all’interno di locali di tendenza a Londra, Leeds, Manchester, Edimburgo. La campagna si prefigge di “rivelare il nuovo corso” del Soave proprio a partire dai Cru, esaltando le particolarità che contraddistinguono e impreziosiscono l’identità di questi Soave. In Giappone invece, dal 15 luglio fino alla fine di Agosto, sarà la volta di “Soave by the Glass”, l’evento dedicato alla stampa, al trade e ai consumatori finali, in collaborazione con Shigeru Hayashi, per raccontare la molteplicità del Soave, cominciando proprio dal valore dell’unicità e della longevità dei singoli cru.
