Si tiene a Roma, sabato 4 e domenica 5 marzo 2017, presso il Salone delle Fontane all’Eur (via Ciro il Grande, 10) la sesta edizione di Spirit of Scotland – Rome Whisky Festival, il più importante festival di settore italiano.
Imperdibile appuntamento per tutti coloro che vivono il mondo del whisky, Spirit of Scotland – Rome Whisky Festival è un evento ricco di eventi, degustazioni, masterclass, seminari sulla mixology, incontri affidati ad esperti del settore con l’obiettivo di creare appuntamenti ad alto contenuto di “single malt”. Il tutto con la direzione artistica di Andrea Fofi, affiancato dai due whisky consultants, Pino Perrone e la scozzese Rachel Rennie. La scorsa edizione di Spirit of Scotland – Rome Whisky Festival ha attratto oltre 4mila visitatori, appassionati e neofiti e riunito operatori ed esperti nazionali e internazionali, con oltre 200 brand presenti, 10 masterclass, 5 seminari mixology e 10 guests internazionali del settore presenti.
La sesta edizione 2017 presenterà masterclass di brand quali Isla of Jura, Dalmore e Wemyss Malt. Tra gli ospiti del mondo della miscelazione, che terranno un seminario, figurano Erick Lorincz, Head Bartender dell’American bar del Savoy Hotel di Londra; Filippo Sisti, barman di Carlo Cracco e bartender internazionale; i bartenders dell’Oriole cocktail bar di Londra, capitanato da Luca Cinalli e Fabio Bacchi, bartender, bar manager e fondatore ed editore di BarTales, magazine specialistico che indaga il mondo del bartending. Altro seminario previsto, Mezcal Vs Whiskey(y), che vedrà in una sorta di scontro a quattro rispettivamente Roberto Artusio e Cristian Bugiada dell’Agaveria La Punta da una parte e Antonio Parlapiano del Jerry Thomas e Pino Perrone, whisky consulting del Festival dall’altra. All’interno del Festival nella giornata di sabato 4 marzo si terrà la Balan & Partners Mixology Contest, torneo ad eliminazione diretta in cui 8 bartender selezionati da una Giuria di eccezione, tra coloro che avranno inviato la propria candidatura, si contenderanno il titolo a suon di cocktails. Gli 8 bartender si sfideranno proponendo delle preparazioni realizzate utilizzando distillati presenti a Portafoglio Balan combinandoli con ingredienti di loro gradimento. Primo Premio di mille euro al primo classificato.
Tra i cocktail bar dell’area mixology che presenzieranno: Jerry Thomas Project; Argot; Freni & Frizioni; Madeleine; Propaganda e Litro. All’interno del salone sarà allestito uno spazio dedicato alle bottiglie vintage e rare portate da un collezionista e amatore del settore che ha lavorato anche a Londra per Whisky Auction. In occasione del Festival verrà presentato come ogni anno il nuovo imbottigliamento ufficiale in serie limitata, di Spirit of Scotland – Rome Whisky Festival, che sarà naturalmente in vendita presso lo shop. Non solo drink al festival: è prevista anche un’area gourmet e degli abbinamenti con il whisky, dalle ostriche al salmone scozzese, dal cioccolato all’haggis, con la ricostruzione di un vero e proprio pub in stile scozzese con tanto di spine. Spirit of Scotland – Rome Whisky Festival nasce nel 2012 grazie alla passione per gli eventi di uno dei due fondatori, Andrea Fofi e per quella del whisky da parte dell’altra, Rachel Rennie ma soprattutto per la mancanza a Roma di un evento sul mondo del distillato. Oggi la compagine è allargata con l’arrivo di Pino Perrone, Emiliano Capobianco e Andrea Franco e la manifestazione è cresciuta in modo esponenziale, al punto tale da poter essere annoverata tra i Festival internazionali di maggior rilievo.
