Una vera e propria passione per il bio, dinamico in questo caso, ha trascinato Giorgio Rossi Cairo e la sua famiglia in un’avventura straordinaria e affascinante.
“Acquistati nel 2013 i primi poderi de La Raia, tra le colline del Gavi, nel basso Piemonte- spiega Giorgio – furono i miei figli a suggerirmi la strada biodinamica per ritrovare la nota originaria di questo territorio che da secoli custodisce il vitigno autoctono dell’uva Cortese. Era un approccio coerente con il desiderio di creare un posto equilibrato e armonico in tutte le sue componenti: agricole e paesaggistiche ma anche architettoniche, sociali e culturali”. Da quell’intuizione nasce La Raia, azienda agricola biodinamica certificata Demeter, che si estende per oltre 180 ha, di cui 42 coltivati a vigneto, tra pascoli, terreni a seminativo e boschi.
All’attività dell’azienda agricola La Raia (www.la-raia.it) si sono aggiunti negli anni l’associazione Intorno al Melo e portaNatura, dedicata alla produzione, commercializzazione e consegna a domicilio di frutta, verdura e prodotti biologici, quali miele biologico e farina di farro monococco, farro dicocco, farro spelta e segale. Ulteriori investimenti sempre tesi ad una concezione bio dell’agricoltura, sono stati il restauro conservativo di una delle cascine dell’800 presenti all’interno della tenuta, Borgo Merlassino, una piccola struttura ricettiva immersa nella quiete del Gavi che apre le sue porte a chi desidera vivere appieno la natura e l’adesione alla compagnia azionaria di EcorNaturaSì, la più importante realtà italiana di produzione e distribuzione di prodotti biologici e biodinamici. Infine a gennaio 2015 è stata rilevata Tenuta Cucco, con i suoi cru Cucco e Cerrati, a Serralunga d’Alba, una delle zone più vocate per la produzione di Barolo”. La prima azione in vigneto è stata la riconversione della coltivazione delle viti: sovescio tra i filari, corno letame dinamizzato e stallatico per fertilizzare questo terreno marnoso, areazione profonda, assenza di pesticidi, modiche quantità di rame e di zolfo di cava spruzzate in determinati periodi dell’anno, potatura che segue la fase discendente della luna.
E’ stata inoltre ripristinata la rotazione dei terreni, con il recupero di coltivazioni antiche come il farro monococco, il farro dicocco, il farro spelta e la segale ed infine è stato reintrodotto l’allevamento del bestiame a pascolo, con mucche di razza fassone. La ricchezza e la varietà delle vegetazioni che si trovano all’interno della tenuta fanno de La Raia una vera oasi di biodiversità per api e altri insetti impollinatori: da qui una copiosa produzione di mieli biologici di acacia, millefiori e bosco. Oggi La Raia produce tre tipi di Gavi D.O.C.G. pluripremiati: Gavi, Gavi Riserva Vigna della Madonnina e Gavi Pisé e due tipi di Barbera. Per la cantina è stata individuata un’antica tecnica costruttiva naturale eco-sostenibile, quella del Pisé, che si armonizza con le dolci colline piemontesi che circondano La Raia. Per realizzarla è stato chiamato l’architetto austriaco Martin Rauch, uno dei massimi esperti internazionali di questa tecnica.

Cibo & Vino: un vino ideale per un’insalata di seppie e gamberi, può sostenere anche carni bianche.
